THE REMARKABLE ANTHONY LISTER IN THE WORDS OF DIRECTOR, EDDIE MARTIN

March 8, 2018

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
– Pablo Picasso

Australian painter Anthony Lister is a time traveller, because like many great artists before him his work will be recognised by generations well beyond his passing. With that said Listers street art is seminal today. He challenges ‘the system’ with beautiful results and most significantly his conservative hometown of Brisbane. His battles to make art accepted and accessible to the public are honourable. However his drive for success combined with a deep inner need to produce artwork has come at a profound personal cost.

In Have You Seen The Listers? Anthony provides us with an unprecedented look into his incredible artistic journey and a raw and honest insight into the mistakes he’s made along the way. The support system for the ‘insatiable’ artist and the affect of success on the artists family is a side of the story we don’t hear often enough. Anika Lister is the ex-partner of Anthony and provides a significant point of view. The value of family and the importance of self-expression are key principles in life for me. I’d like to invite anyone interested in these universally core themes to see our film.
